This studio project involves the design of a five-star hotel in Chittagong, a major coastal seaport city and financial hub in southeastern Bangladesh. Due to its status as a growing business center, there is a high demand for short-term accommodation, which has prompted the expansion of the hotel industry. In response, Bangladesh Railway has proposed the construction of a five-star hotel in Khulshi, one of the city’s most significant zones. The project site contains a small hillock, which played a central role in shaping the design approach.
The aim of this project was to create a hotel that meets all the criteria of a five-star establishment while integrating natural elements, particularly the existing greenery and hillock, into the urban environment. Emphasis was placed on preserving the topography, with the hillock incorporated into the design rather than being altered or removed. By respecting the natural landscape, the hotel design sought to balance urban development with ecological considerations, offering a unique architectural solution that aligns with sustainable design principles. The result is a hotel that not only fulfills the functional and luxury requirements of a five-star facility but also enhances the site's natural characteristics.
